Title: Molasses Sugar Cookies, 2nd Place

Yield: 36 Servings

3/4cShortening; melted
1cSugar
1 Egg
1/4cMolasses
2tsBaking soda
2cAll-purpose flour
1/2tsCloves
1/2tsGinger
1tsCinnamon
1/2tsSalt

Melt shortening; allow to cool. Add sugar, egg and molasses to shortening. Sift flour, soda and spices together. Mix all together and form into 1-inch balls, roll in granulated sugar and place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in 350-degree oven. If taken out of oven when shiny, cookie will be softer. Leave on pan 1 minute before removing after taking out of oven.
